Dear God,

Help us to treasure this new day, which is a gift from you.
Help us to discern what we should concentrate our efforts on,
what to let go of, what to prize highly.
Show us which trivialities are not worth worrying about and
which matters need our concern.

And these things we ask:
That we might enjoy what we have and not be anxious about what we lack;
That we will be totally alive today, not lost in yesterday or tomorrow;
That we will treat our families, our friends, and each person as if today
were our last day with them;
That we might be as happy as possible to be ourselves, to enjoy what
we have, to do what we must do.
In your Holy Name.
Amen.



Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love.
