Parents always want to help other parents in need – whether it is the joyous news of a new baby or the sad news of an illness or death. Most communities have a support network that comes alive when a need arises. Many people first think of bringing a casserole to the family because it is an easy pre-made, portable dish. But if you’ve ever been on the receiving end, although the adults loved the casserole, the kids refused to eat it and once again, chicken tenders were thrown in the oven for them or a quick run to a fast food place was made. In addition, sometimes parents are not necessarily checking with each other as to what already has been brought to the family. It’s hard to believe, but chicken tettrazini twice a week for four weeks can be a bit too much! And, usually, after agreeing to bring a meal, you often spend hours going through cookbooks trying to remember what you brought last time or what meal would be a good idea. This list will provide many ideas for meals that are easily transportable and reheatable as well as being child-friendly.
